Hypnosis for Sports Performance

Sports Performance
Whether you are training for a marathon, a boxing match or cycling for pleasure, Hypnotherapy can really help you to focus your mind on what you need to do in order to achieve better results and even win.
Believe it or not, sports performance has more to do with your mental ability than it does with your physical ability. I know that it may sound like a strange concept, but thousands of sports people have already recognised that their positive mental state most definitely has a positive effect on their sports performance.
So it will therefore be no surprise to hear that hypnosis has been used for many years to help professional athletes enhance their natural ability.  Professional boxer and former World Champion in the Super Middleweight class Glenn Catley regularly used hypnosis to help him achieve his dream and Tiger Woods, Professional Golfer has also admitted that he uses hypnosis to help him with his game!
Hypnotherapy can improve and enhance an individual’s mental attitude by helping them to relax, removing anxieties and boosting confidence.
Because the brain can’t distinguish between imagination and reality, by visualising yourself doing something or winning a competition, you can help tune your mind for success.
If the human mind is capable of imagining something, then it's capable of making it happen.

It's National Chip Week!

There are lots of 'National Awareness days' going on this Month.
Apparently it's National Chip Week this week.  I only found that out as I was searching for UK Awareness days via a well-known search engine.
Personally, I like a Chunky Oven Chip with the skin on.  I'm sure that must mean something about me but it doesn't have that information on the website.  Yes, there really is a website dedicated to National Chip Week! Go to http://www.chips.lovepotatoes.co.uk for more information. You can even vote for your favourite chippy and take a chip quiz!
An interesting fact I picked up from the website was that "almost 676,000 tonnes of British potatoes are made into fresh chips in Great Britain every year – that’s 322 times heavier than the London Eye".  I thought that was quite interesting!
Anyway, I don't think I'm going to be eating more chips this week just because it's National Chip Week and, quite honestly, I wouldn't have even bothered with Pancakes on Tuesday, except that a family member is going away and wasn't going to use the pancake ingredients they'd bought.  So this year we will be joining the fun and having traditional lemon and sugar pancakes for tea.  I am, of course, aware that the point of pancake day was to use up some of the things in our cupboards and the fact that I will be using bought ingredients kind of defeats the point!

It's also National Nest Box Week, encouraging you to protect the birds we have and encourage more birds into your garden. All you have to do to take part is put up a next box in your garden and then sit back and watch.  For more information go to http://www.bto.org/about-birds/nnbw.
So whatever you are celebrating this week, have a good one and remember positive action, positive interaction, positive thinking and a good nights sleep are the key to happiness.

Yarak Birds of Prey Centre in Devon

Last Friday I took my husband to Yarak Birds of Prey Centre in Devon for an Experience Day, I went as a spectator so I could photograph the event!  Seriously though, I cannot rate this place or the staff highly enough!  They all do a fantastic job in looking after the birds and making your visit a day to remember.  I'm sorry if this sounds like a trip adviser review (actually it is), but I just wanted to share with you what a great day we had.
We first went to Yarak back in August 2014, that was our first attempt at an experience day.  We had an amazing morning flying the small birds in the barn with Di who was extremely knowledgeable. Unfortunately though the rain came in over lunchtime we were unable to continue with the afternoon outdoor flying so John very kindly gave a voucher to go back another time.
So we re-booked for last Friday, the 6th February, which probably not a great time of year to be doing an outdoor experience!  Again we had an amazing morning in the barn flying the small birds, this time with Sian, who was equally as knowledgeable.  Unfortunately, because it was so windy and absolutely freezing cold, we could only fly a couple of birds outside, which was still amazing, and the rest of the afternoon we flew them inside the barn.  I have to say, that wherever you fly the birds, it is a fantastic experience.  Yes, it's nice to see them outside, but in the barn, you get much more up close with them!
The food at the centre is delicious, we had an All-Day breakfast for lunch and some lovely home-made cake for afternoon break, which Dion's (one of the handler's) wife makes.
The centre is well laid out with lots of information on all the birds and if you have any questions the staff are always happy to answer them and help you.  All the staff have a real passion for the birds and the centre and it's so lovely to see that.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed his experience day and I can't wait to do one myself.

World Cancer Day - February 4th

World Cancer Day 2015 takes a very positive and proactive approach towards the fight against cancer, on an individual, community and governmental level.  It has four main areas of focus:
  • Choosing healthy lives
  • Delivering early detection
  • Achieving treatment for all
  • Maximising quality of life
Hypnotherapy is proving to be very effective for lots of cancer patients. Helping them to relax and cope better with their symptoms and treatment. Hypnotherapy can help patients to feel more comfortable and in control of their situation.  Not only can it help them deal with their sickness and pain, it can also help with depression, anxiety and stress.

There are a lot of studies ongoing about the benefits of hypnosis for cancer patients, and it's true that more research is needed and would be welcome, but the results so far are looking good and those patients using hypnosis techniques are certainly noticing the benefits.
